It’s the end of the world! (Or is it?)

For the past week I’ve been bug fixing, adding features, and making minor UI updates.  One of the biggest features I’ve been working on, started with getting things set up for threading.  When you move across the world, as new areas were loading, there was a very subtle hiccup as you walked along.  The reason is because the game is actually pulling from the database as you move across the world.  In order to solve this problem I am going to be processing all your next possible moves in the background so that once you reach the edge, the world has already loaded.
In that process I realized how much I hated the edge of the world.  It looked like this:

There are many ways I could deal with the edge of the world.  I could make it look nicer or even hide it entirely by making the character just bump up against the edge of the screen.  But instead, I decided to go with infinite worlds.
It’s a feature that I’ve thought about since the beginning.  In fact, at one point, it was implemented.  I spent a lot of time discussing the pros and cons of infinite worlds and basically concluded that for this game and everything I’m planning on doing, the pros far outweigh the cons.
Here are just a few of the pros:-Loading Screens almost completely go away.  -You will never run out of resources.-There will always be more to explore.

I’d love some feedback on this:

This is currently the basic main menu UI.  It looks very similar to the inventory UI seen here:

Stay tuned for more updates!

  1. I think we all agree that we need to diversify our economy. But I was a bit more intseerted this time on the facts behind the numbers. I believe that the 50% drop in non-oil revenues is even more shocking than the change in ratio.

Men lyngen trives! Ha en fortsatt fin Søndag du og, klem 😉

  3. The definition for the Ritual is the ceremonies that the initiate experiences, these ceremonies mark his/her right of passage into another state, class, or leve. The importance of ritual rights cannot be overstressed as they provide clear sight posts for characters’ roles in society as well as our own position in this world. What would some examples from film or movies. This is the only category I just don’t understand and I just can’t find an example.
